How to use Sea Wages

A quick tour of every feature. Follow the sections in order, or jump to what you need.

1

Getting started

Install and open. No account needed.

  1. Install Sea Wages from the Play Store.
  2. Open the app — you'll see Welcome aboard on first launch.
  3. Tap Set up contract to begin.
  4. All data is stored on your device. No account, no internet required.
Sea Wages is designed around a single contract. When you sign off and join a new ship, export your records first, then use Reset all data to start fresh.
2

Set up your contract

Ship name, sign-on date, and opening balance.

  1. Tap Set up contract.
  2. Enter your ship name.
  3. Choose your sign-on date — day, month, year.
  4. Add travel or hotel days before sign-on, if any.
  5. If you joined mid-contract, set an opening balance — it becomes your carried-over amount.
The sign-on date drives your month list. Sea Wages supports up to 24 months, or ends when you mark sign-off.
3

Set your monthly rates

One-time entry. Everything else prorates from here.

  1. Open Settings (gear icon).
  2. Enter your monthly rates: Basic, Overtime, Leave Pay, Leave Subs. Allowance, Bonus.
  3. These stay the same across months unless you change them.
Rates are prorated automatically by days worked ÷ 30. You don't need to enter daily rates — just the monthly figures.
4

Log earnings

Per-month income, travel pay, and one-off items.

  1. Open the Income tab for a month.
  2. Tap the days chip at the top to change how many days you worked — each rate prorates instantly.
  3. For travel pay (sign-on or sign-off), tap the travel row.
  4. For one-off income, tap Other income.
Other income is not prorated — it's added to the month as-is. Useful for bonuses, reimbursements, or ad-hoc payments.
5

Allotment & MPO

Track what's sent home, in both currencies.

  1. Open the Deductions tab.
  2. Tap Allotment — supports multiple entries, each with its own currency and exchange rate.
  3. Set the ₱/USD rate for each entry — tap the rate pill to edit.
  4. Tap MPO and enter the monthly amount the same way.
Totals roll up in both currencies. You'll see the total sent in USD and in PHP in the Summary tab.
6

Deductions & leave

Everything that reduces your monthly balance.

  1. Still in the Deductions tab, scroll to Other deductions.
  2. Enter Slop Chest, Danish Pension, Cash Advance, or anything else.
  3. Leave Pay is set aside automatically and tracked as a running vacation balance.
Vacation leave accumulates month over month. The running balance is shown in the Summary tab.
7

Sign off & review balances

End the contract. See the final numbers.

  1. Open the Summary tab for the month you sign off in.
  2. Scroll to the Sign off section.
  3. Tap Mark sign-off and enter the day.
  4. The contract ends — sign-off travel days are added, and the final balance is carried forward.
Review the Summary tab at the end of every month. Carried to next month is your forward balance; Vacation leave shows what's been set aside.
